Gonana Guest House is situated in the small bay of Bekbaai in the quieter area of Paternoster on the west coast of South Africa. Bordered by the Columbine Nature Reserve and a few kilometers from the Cape Columbine Lighthouse, this holiday accommodation was originally a family home and has now been completely transformed to a beautiful home away from home.

Uniquely situated directly on the beach, Gonana Guest House is the perfect hideaway and the brainchild of Jonas Sandstrom, a Swedish entrepreneur who has been running other guest houses in South Africa for many years. This beachfront guest house is the culmination of all his experience and passion for creating beautiful spaces that are rich in detail, considerate to the environment and exquisite in taste.

Welcome to another beautiful place in South Africa.

We believe that traveling is not only about discovering new places but also about getting in touch with the local people and exploring new mindsets and traditions. For us, tourism is not about commerce, but about being mindful of the space we're in and being kind to the environment. Travel is good for the soul. It is also good for local economies. Meeting a person in real life can never be replaced by digital encounters.

During renovations of the Gonana Guest House, the surrounding community has benefited from jobs, giveaways and contracts. Whenever possible we use only natural, locally produced products and try to keep our operation plastic-free so that we can offer eco-friendly accommodation on the west coast.
